Windsurfing & Surfing
Conditions at Rhosneigr
and in the surrounding area are well known to be some of the best
in the UK for both windsurfing and surfing. The prevailing south-westerly
wind brings cross-on shore conditions to Rhosneigr and high waves
can be perfect for riding and jumping.
Town Beach
Traeth Crigyll, or
Town Beach is ideal for windsurfing. The bay is large and conditions
vary from place to place within it, so that all levels of proficiency
are catered for in most weather. The Funsport shop and school
couldn't be more conveniently located, being right on the seafront.
Broad Beach
Broad Beach is a short
distance away and provides great conditions for surfing and bodyboarding,
although care should be taken as there is a strong current under
certain tidal conditions.
Maelog Lake
The lake at the edge
of Rhosneigr is ideal for beginners and for when conditions at
sea are a little wild. The lake is large, access is good and there
is ample parking on the roadside, a short distance from the shore.
Cable Bay and Porth
Tyn Twyn
Located just outside
Rhosneigr, Cable and Tyn Twyn offer some of the best surf on Anglesey.
There is ample parking at both and Tyn Twyn has toilet facilities
as well.
